Emotions

Question
I have anger problems and I can't control them. I overreact about everything.
What do I do?

Answer
People certainly get angry when things don’t seem to be fair, or going their way, don’t they!

It is acceptable to feel anger because it is a natural emotion. Sometimes anger is felt at the same time as shame, embarrassment, fear,
confusion or as a result of pressure to do something. Acting on this anger with physical or verbal outbursts is not acceptable though...that is violence. Violence is never OK.
Sometimes things like jogging, sport, jumping on a trampoline, writing or drawing will help with angry feelings but if you feel as though you are not able to control your anger, talk to a trusted adult about it as they will know you and can suggest things that are specific for you to try.

Question
My mother died 4 years ago and I can't get over it. I go to a psychologist about it and I still feel really sad. Everyone expects me to be over it but i was only 6. What do I do? When will they stop being sad?

Answer
When huge changes like losing someone come into your life, it is a very sad time for everyone involved.

Often people feel the sadness for a very long time, some go back to their normal way of doing things after a little time while others can be changed for the rest of their lives. It is a different length of time for every person who grieves a loss.
Mostly the sadness of such a loss never ever really goes away. Understanding how to deal with it though, helps bring some laughter back into your family. Remembering the good things about your Mum and talking about the family memories when she was with you will become part of your family history and you will begin to feel better over time. It is a good idea to talk to the other people in your family when you are feeling like you are.
